Happy Monday and welcome to another Monday challenge! Challenge #203 Bye Bye Birdie Bye Bye Birdie Create a project with a bird on it. To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used. Here is my project for the week: I took these pictures of my son, Dallas, way back in November 2013, and I'm just getting around to scraping them. This was his 6 year photo shoot, and they were taken outside his elementary school. I love the fall look of the pictures, with all the trees and the fall colors, so I wanted a scrapbook page that would reflect that as well. I used a lot of different cartridges to make this layout, but it was worth the extra effort. I used Cindy Loo for the tree, Doodlecharms for the leaves, Home Decor for the bird, Opposites Attract for the "T" in Thankful, and Cursive 101 for the rest of the word. I didn't like the T, so found one that I liked better. I used a Spectrum Noir marker to "edge" the leaves, Tim Hotz Tea Dye Distress Ink to ink the edges of the paper and the tree, colored in the bird using a red and orange Glaze pen, and then popped the bird up using some foam tape.

Happy Monday and welcome to another Monday challenge! Challenge #199: All About You Use your favorite colors To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used. This we were challenged to create a project, using at least 1 Cricut cut, with our favorite color. If you haven't guessed already, my favorite color is PURPLE!!! I'm not sure why I am drawn to purple, but I always have been, and tend to "collect" things in the color....clothes, pens, paper, you get the idea. The first truck I ever bought for myself, was you guess it....purple. That was actually the only requirement, LOL. I drove the wheels off that little purple Ford Ranger. For my project, I wanted to use my new Edge to Edge cartridge, so I found this great cut, that looks a bit like a modern lattice. Then I cut the title and brackets using the font from Designer's Calendar. Next I matted the pictures of the flowers my husband had bought me throughout the year (I'm a pretty lucky girl - and he knows I love purple, so he bought me sterling roes, which are purple - aren't they gorgeous?) The last thing I did was a bit of pen work using a purple Glaze pen and a purple Zig pen, put it all together and added purple paper flowers. I really love how it turned out. I don't normally do monochromatic pages, but this one turned out perfect, and now I will be able to enjoy my flowers for years to come. Materials Used: Cricut: Edge to Edge and Designers' Calender Paper: Recollections cardstock Pens: Purple Zig and Purple Glaze Other: paper flowers and rhinestone hearts from Michaels. Challenge #197 I Heart You
Use a heart
Winner will receive the Love Stings stamp set
~This Weeks Challenge~
I Heart You
Create a project that uses a heart
To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used.
I bought the Victorian Romance Cartridge a long time ago, because it was on sale super cheap, but I hadn't used it yet, so I challenged myself to make an amazing card with it. It didn't take long to come up with a plan, as the cartridge is very inspiring. I used a mustard yellow card base with a white layer, and the blue pattern paper (which by the way, I am in love with). Then I cut the scalloped heart using the Phrases cartridge, and the man and woman from Victorian Romance. I finished it off with the sentiment "You are my Forever," which is a stamp from the Heart to Heart set by Hot Off the Press. I love how it turned out, and that this cartridge inspires you as much as it did me.

Happy Monday and welcome to another Monday challenge with FCCB! Challenge #95 Mix and Match Use 3 different patterns of paper Winner will receive the Funny Valentine stamp set To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used. This week we were challenged to use 3 different pattern papers and at least 1 Cricut cut. This was a bit hard for me, as I don't mix a lot of patterns, I don't feel that I am good at choosing complementary patters. So, to make this a little easier, I chose papers that matched in color more than trying to mix the pattern. The base paper has a text with blue birds. The photo mat paper is blue with a white diamond shape, then the embellishments are yellow and grey and have a light white pattern on them. Then for a pop of color, I used the yellow and green paper flowers, which some of them have a pattern on them as well. I inked the edges of all the papers, and cut the title using the Opposites Attract cartridge. The shapes came from the Disney Cars cartridge, it's the stop sign without the word. Also, you will notice a small grey piece of cardstock tucked behind the photo, this is where I hid my journaling. This project is dedicated to Miss Pam, who was my son, Dallas' daycare teacher for the last two years. It was really sad to leave her, as she is like family, but Dallas had to head off to "big boy school" and go to Kindergarten.
Happy Monday and welcome to another Monday challenge!
Challenge #193
Winter Fun
Create a winter inspired project
For my project, I made a scrapbook page of my son's first school performance. It was a winter music performance with lots of Christmas carols, put on by the Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. I love, love, love this page and how it turned out, even though the picture from my iPhone is not real great.
To make this page, I cut the music notes and staff, as well as the title using the Groovy Times and Type Candy cartridges. Next I found all the pattern papers I wanted to used, and inked all the edges using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Then it was as easy as putting it all together. One of my new favorite things to use is the Lines2Journal stamp set from the Stamps of Life. It makes handwriting journaling so much easier and it looks a lot better.

(There is a Blog Candy opportunity, so keep reading) I wanted to do something fun and youthful. I found this super cute sock monkey on the B is for Boy Cartridge, and thought that it would be perfect. I love clean and simple cards and this is that. I cut the base and the background paper and attached it, then cut out the sock monkey. I never cut out the small pieces, instead I use a gelly roll pen to color them in. I also used the gelly roll pen to add some dots and doodling to his had. I finished off the sock monkey by putting a heart brad on his chest. I thought it added a little something and showed that he was a friendly sock monkey. For the sentiment, I used a piece of scrap paper, stamped the sentiment "just swinging by to say...," did some doodling to add a border, and added a brad heart to it. I love this card because it could be used to say hello, for a birthday or other special event, to say congratulations, or whatever you wanted to say to a friend or loved one. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Materials Used: Cricut: B is for Boy Paper: Making Memorise - Just Chillin Pack Ink: Stampin Up Burgandy Stamp: Stampendous - Changito Dos Stamp Set Other: Heart Brads (I think are Recollections), Black, Brown, and Red Gelly Roll Pen
